Eye of Horus Megaways™ Slot Review

Where Can I Play Eye of Horus Megaways™ Slot?

Autumn 2019 will see Merkur Gaming’s classic Egyptian slot get a makeover courtesy of their sister studio, Blueprint Gaming, whose prolific use of the Megaways™ license is flooding the market with expanding reels slots this year.

But what’s this? Looks like a Megaways™ slot with the brakes on – a maximum of 5 rows of symbols per reel create a reduced maximum of 15,625 ways to win per spin, and there are no multipliers in the bonus round. Too bad, but are we going to get upset? No, that would be churlish. The truth is, the original Eye of Horus is a classic, and the best elements of it’s simple design are all still present here, and despite the toned-down Megaways™ engine we are still looking at a medium-high variance game with up to 10,000x to be won in the free spins round, plus some nice Expanding Wilds and Upgrading Symbol features to push up the win potential.

Eye of Horus Megaways™ Themes, Gameplay, Symbols and Pay Tables

The original Eye of Horus, which is hard to find these days, is a simple 10-line slot. Here, the reel set becomes six wide, with between two and five symbols per reel. When all six reels display five symbols, 15,625 lines are in play.

The simplistic Egyptian look and feel is all here, with low value symbols represented by the Jack through to Ace. The premium symbols are the scarabs, sticks, ankhs, birds and jackals. The game symbol, Eye of Horus gives you 20x for six on a payline.

Look out as well for the Horus Wild which expands to a full reel set and substitutes for all others bar the scatters. And also the scatter that unlocks the free spins and comes in at 100x for six on a payline.

Eye of Horus Megaways™ Features

Cascading Wins

This feature is a regular of Megaways™ slots. When winning symbols land, they are remove and replaced with new ones to create more chances of wins. This process continues until no more win lines are created. It means more win potential from each spin.

Free Spins

The main feature here is the Free Spins round, triggered by landing three or more Doorway Scatters.

This set ups 12 spins with an additional symbol upgrade feature which comes into play when the wild lands. Here, Horus shoots beams of light at symbols, upgrading their value to the next highest in the paytable. As more upgrades occur, so the paytable gets weighted further in favour of bigger wins.

Horus Wilds can also earn you extra spins – if you land 1, 2 or 3 wilds you get 1,3 or 5 extra spins added to your total for the round.

Blueprint’s upgrade to this popular slot is a great success. Whilst some fans of the original may complain, the truth is Merkur’s version is rarely found these days, so why not freshen it up and put it out there again. The slightly less volatile Megaways™ settings will help the slot appeal to a wider audience than some of the riskier games in the group, and the expanding wilds and upgrading symbols in this one set up some tasty win sequences in the bonus round.
