ALL ABOUT BLAZING BULL SLOT
Checking back through our own review pages we find we have only ever checked out one of Kalamba Games previous slots. That was a Megaways™ title delivered on Relax Gaming’s Silver Bullet platform and called Machina. It was a game with a cyborg theme and plenty of features to set it apart from the other games in that series. So, we’re intrigued to see what this developer has got for us this time with their April 2020 release, a high variance slot called Blazing Bull. In fact this is a 4,096 win ways slot so it has some pretty stiff competition in the form of games like Pink Elephants and Raging Rhino, and whilst its top payout of 2,667x is somewhat unremarkable in current times, it does have an outstanding RTP and 2 decent free spins rounds where things get pretty interesting thanks to wild multipliers and possible re-triggers.
GAME SET-UP, SYMBOLS AND GRAPHICS
Graphically, much like the Machina slot, Blazing Bull is strong. The action takes place in the foothills of some impressive mountains, with a lake in the background. The reel set is 6×4, built on a wooden fame with winding, overgrown ivy surrounding it. The lower value symbols on the reels are the cards 9 through to Ace, but it’s the premium ones that really catch the eye. There are bears, eagles, cougars and wolves. Then there is the highest value of the lot, the totally fearsome looking bull. It truly blazes with burning eyes and brings a 5x win whenever 6 appear on a payline.
Watch out as well for the Wilds which sub for all other symbols except the scatter in the base game and come with multipliers in the bonus round, and the Silver and Gold bonus symbols which help you stack up free spins for their respective rounds.
BLAZING BULL SLOT RTP, VARIANCE AND PAYOUTS
Like all 4,096 win-ways slots, Blazing Bull is of a high variance so tread carefully when you load up and start spinning. It’s advisable to adjust your stake to a lower level than you might choose for a medium or low variance slot where the payouts are more frequent. Having said that, the lowest stake is set at 60p so casual gamers may be put off before they even start! What is notable is the higher than average RTP here, at 97.42% which is pretty generous.
GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES
Another commonality between Blazing Bull and other 4,096 ways to win games is that it is pretty light on features. Everything is put into the free spins round, of which there are two. Here’s how they work:
Silver and Gold Bonus Spins
You will notice two coin meters above the reel set – one for silver and one for gold. When a silver or gold bonus symbol lands in the base game, so it increases the value on the meter by one. When three or more of either bonus coin land, then this will trigger the corresponding free spins feature, with the number of spins displayed in the meter applied added to your total for the round.
Silver Bonus Spins will be between 7 and 20 for the round, whilst Gold Bonus Spins are between 9 and 30. In addition, all wilds that land will are upgraded with multipliers of 2x for Silver Spins and 3x for Gold Spins.
And …
Additional bonus symbols landing on the reels during the free spins round credit you with extra free spins and one-off win-multipliers. If you manage to land six bonus symbols on one spin then you will get an extra 15 spins PLUS a 50x multiplier!
It’s easy to see where the big win opportunities come in this game – they are packed into this bonus round where Gold Spins can deliver the epic sequences thanks to those wild multipliers and the possibility of additional spins thanks to the bonus symbols.
OUR VERDICT
Kalamba have delivered a nice slot game here with simple game play and some teasingly-high variance. The difficulty it faces is that in the series of 4,096 ways to win slots there are some massive hitters and we’re just not sure Blazing Bull measures up. That is partly down to the somewhat low top payout. We will however be intrigued to see what turns up in the way of big win videos once the streamers get hold of it – particular interesting will be seeing how things can snowball in the gold bonus round once the multipliers stack up. One to watch!
