THE WOLF LEGEND MEGAWAYS™ SLOT
Since signing on to create games based on the Megaways™ slot game engine, Blueprint Gaming has produced more expanding reels slots than any other firm. They have opted not to reinvent the wheel in the process, instead sticking to the tried and true Bonanza elements, with the occasional slot bonus thrown in for good measure. If you’re a fan, most of the Canadian slot casinos on our list have these games.
The six-reel, 117,649-way-to-win style is in full place here, with the only exception being the inclusion of a Golden Streak feature that appears between the bonus round and the base game and allows the player to win more spins before gambling for even more. It’s a clever gimmick, and one that at least distinguishes the game from the other Megaways clones.
Themes, Gameplay, Symbols, and Pay Tables
Wolf Legend has a strong resemblance to a few of other games, like IGT’s Wolf Run and Pragmatic’s Wolf Gold. A moonlight landscape of rocks and canyons, all set against a starry sky, serves as the backdrop.
On the reels, the visuals are plain. The cards 9 through Ace, as well as prairie species such as bald eagles, cougars, bisons, and wolves, serve as emblems. The wolf, with a top payoff of 50,000x for six on a payline – usual for top paying symbols in a Megaways™ slot – is the most valuable of them.
A wild symbol – a howling wolf set against the moon – appears exclusively on the 4×1 reels above the main one. The scatter symbol on the main reel set is a howling wolf, and it is necessary to activate the free spins.
Wolf Legend employs a Mystery Symbol in the main game, just like many other Megaways™ games, to set up greater winnings. This is the sunset, and when it appears, all instances of the same symbol on the reels change to a different one.
The scatter symbol activates the free spins round, which are valued between 1 and 5 coins and are given at random before the bonus round begins. Then, just before the main feature, there’s another Golden Streak round where you may win extra free spins.
On the normal reel set, the feature takes place.
You start with one to three lifelines, depending on how many scatters you got to start the game. If scatters appear on the reels after each spin, you will be awarded additional free spins (between 1 and 5 for each scatter). If no scatter lands, one Lifeline will be eliminated.
The Golden Streak will keep going until you run out of lifelines. Once you’ve completed the game, you can gamble for extra lifelines. If you lose the wager, you will forfeit your free spins and be returned to the main game.
Once you’re in the bonus round, it’s the same as every other Bonanza clone: cascading winnings, progressive limitless multipliers that increase with each victory, and the chance to win extra free spins if more scatters appear. It’s everything there, along with the opportunity to experience some truly spectacular victory sequences.
THE VERDICT OF THE SLOT BUZZ
Blueprint’s Megaways™ portfolio is chock-full of games like this, and they’re milking it like a cash cow right now. Of course, the risk is that people may become bored with the same thing over and over again. For the time being, we like it — and the inclusion of the Golden Streak feature, which increases your free spins, is a wonderful touch. Just be careful with that wager – it would be a shame to miss out on the bonus round after coming so far!
