ALL ABOUT THE EDGE SLOT IN THE KINGDOM
If you prefer classic Microgaming slots like Thunderstruck and Immortal Romance, then NextGen’s latest slot release, Kingdom’s Edge, might be precisely what you’re searching for this hot summer!
There’s a lot of influence from those games in the visuals, gameplay (plenty of expanding wilds, re-spins, and multipliers), and extreme volatility here. In truth, it doesn’t quite measure up to MG’s best (the graphics are a little dated), but it still delivers a punch, and with a top payout of 3,000x, it’s worth pursuing.
Let’s learn more…
GAME SETUP FOR KINGDOM’S EDGE
Kingdom’s Edge is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot game with a high variance and a 95.4 percent RTP. The game has a Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings-like epic/fantasy vibe to it. The game takes place in Elaris, a forested mountain kingdom governed by King Trenin de Saxe. The four warrior symbols and wilds drive the large wins on the reels, which are set against this backdrop.
You can wager anywhere from C$0.10 and C$25 per spin.
GAME SYMBOLS FOR KINGDOM’S EDGE
The cards, from Ace to Nine, represent the game’s lower value symbols. The Keeper of the Magics’ Resmina-Mi, a scary-looking Dwarf – Holta ‘Silver’ Mett, an Archer – Queen of Arrows Liliana Strait, and a Giant Knight, Omin Preesh, are the four premium, high-value symbols.
While the highest paying premium only pays out 5x for five in a line, keep in mind that each one comes piled up to three high on all reels.
In addition, the game features two wilds: King Trenin deSaxe Silver and King Trenin deSaxe Gold. This is where things get interesting: for 2, 3, 4, or 5 on a payline, they pay 0.5, 1.5, 5, or 30x.
Except for the scatter and the Silver Wild, the Gold Wild will appear stacked on reel 1 and will replace all other symbols except the scatter and the Silver Wild. In the meantime, the Silver Wild appears on reels 2 to 5 and substitutes for all other symbols save the scatter and the Gold Wild.
FEATURE OF THE TROOPS RALLY
You should be utilising this feature if you want to chase down the big prizes. When the Gold Wild appears piled on reel 1, it activates the feature.
Any Silver Wilds that appear on reels 2 to 5 expand to occupy ALL places on their reel during a re-spin. In addition, every HERO (premium) symbol that occurs on the same reel as the Silver Wild will double the win by an additional 1x (up to 5x multiplier).
You’ll also get an extra re-spin if an extra scatter, or Shield, symbol occurs on the same reel as a Silver Wild.
Finally, during the re-spins, the extended gold wild on reel 1 remains sticky.
FREE SPINS FOR DEFENDING THE GATES
Free spins are awarded when the scatter, or Shield, symbol appears three times (15 spins), four times (20 spins), or five times (25 spins).
The Rally the Troops feature is also active during the free spins round, which is rather exciting. As a result, if the Gold Wild lands halfway on reel 1, it will be nudged to fill the entire reel, triggering Rally the Troops.
Additionally, if a Gold Wild appears fully stacked on reel 1 (without being nudged), you will be awarded 5 or 10 spins at random.
During the bonus round, it’s also possible to get more free spins by landing scatters – and there’s no limit to how many times this can happen.
THE VERDICT OF THE SLOT BUZZ
This is standard high-variance slot action. In the regular game, the game is a little slow, but in the bonus round, where the Defend the Gates and Rally the Troops bonuses combine to provide a lot of free spins, stacked wilds, and multipliers, the game really picks up and throws some large wins out. Keep in mind that the maximum payout is 3,000x.
