ALL ABOUT WOLF HUNTERS SLOT
Yggdrail Gaming got dark this year with their high-end slot, Vikings Go To Hell, and it seems they’ve got more to give as they take us to another scary place with this new title for September 2018. Wolf Hunters follows two werewolf slayers, the Hunter and the Huntress, as they attempt to hunt down and kill some terrifying prey.
Fans of the Vikings release will notice some similarities between the two games – as well as the same set of wilds, sticky wilds, re-spins and free spins, there are also Rage Points to collect. Each hunter has their own cumulative total and achieving 100 for either triggers the free spins round.
As always with Yggdrasil, production values are high here, the graphics are slick and the gameplay is tight and engaging. For some the variance may be a little low, but the top payout of 3,000x + is reasonable. Let’s find out more …
Wolf Hunters Game Set Up
Wolf Hunters is a 5 reel and 3 row slot that comes with 20 fixed paylines. The reel set sits on the front of a gothic castle with intricate designs with a moonlit sky behind and some sort of weird gargoyle guarding the top. The two hunters are either side of the reels and you’ll notice their rage meters displayed beneath them.
Wolf Hunters Game Symbols
There are eight basic symbols in the game – the low value ones are the card suits, spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts.
There are also four premium symbols, three instruments for catching the wolfs, including a fierce looking trap, and and the werewolf himself. The latter is highest paying at 25x for five in a payline. It also triggers a battle with one of the hunters which can turn it into a wild.
Look out as well for the standard Wilds which substitute for all other symbols and trigger re-spins.
Wolf Hunters Features
Wolfs, Wilds and Re-Spins
Every time you land a Werewolf symbols anywhere on the reel you will trigger a fight between a hunter and the wolf. When the hunter wins, the wolf becomes a wild and a re-spin occurs. The wolfs life total also goes down by 1. Once its life total is down to 0, then the free spins are triggered.
At the same time, a successful hit on a werewolf will increase the hunters Rage Points total by 1. Once Rage Points hit 100, then the free spins round is triggered.
Another way to trigger a re-spins is simply to land a wild in the normal way. Wils are always sticky during the re-spin.
Wolf Hunters Free Spins Mode
There are three free spins modes in the game. During each one, the werewolf hunters are given extra chances to slay the wolves. Whenever one lands, if the first hunter fails to strike, the second one comes in to try for a second try.
Hunter Upgrades and Expanding Wilds
During any free spins round you can upgrade either hunter by collecting Hunter or Huntress Free Spins symbols. This gets you extra free spins and also means that the werewolf will turn into a wild and expand upwards or across when it is defeated.
Scatter Free Spins – this is the basic free spins round, triggered by landing two free spins symbols in the base game. Sets up 10 free spins.
Rage Free Spins – 7 Rage Free Spins are awarded when either hunter tots up 100 Rage Points. The hunter will also be upgraded for the entirety of the bonus round.
Slayer Free Spins – 10 Slayer Free Spins are triggered by reducing the werewolf life score to 0. During this bonus round all werewolf symbols become wilds.
THE SLOT BUZZ VERDICT
Wolf Hunters by Yggdrasil is an exciting game with lots of action and features. With Vikings Go To Hell earlier this year these guys introduced some interesting mechanics to gamify the slot to some degree. And they have continued in that vein here. You are rewarded for sticking around and increasing your hunter rage points or decreasing the werewolf life points by extra free spins, which is nice. The game looks great, and with a medium-high variance and a top payout of over 3,000x its definitely worth a spin.
