About Coils of Cash
The main inspiration of the Coils of Cash video slot is the famous 1893 World’s Fair which took place in Chicago and brought together the greatest minds of the time to discuss the bright future of humankind with the new electricity the star of the show. For this reason, volts, currents and charges are central to the visual appeal of this game which comes with an electric soundtrack too!
One of the most noticeable parts of the game is the unusual reel set up – there is 6 reel x 3 row set with standard vertical spins, and then a 4×1 set that sits above that one, with a horizontal spin. In total, that means the game plays with 7 reels and 2,034 win ways. There are also some really neat features, including massive multiplier potential, so you’ll need to pay attention as we reveal why we love Play n Go’s latest release.
RTP, Variance and Top Payout
First up, and not to be over-looked, remember that this is a very high variance game. That means you won’t be landing wins on regular basis. Instead, you should expect an uneven distribution, with some dry spells with low wins followed by short bursts of potentially big payouts.
The RTP is set at 96.20% which is fairly average, and the top payout is a whopping 30,000x. This puts Coils of Cash up there with some of the very biggest potential games right now (outside of the progressives of course).
Symbols and Paytable
The artwork here is top quality, and weaves the theme of the game effortlessly through the reels and symbols. In fact, the entire machine that operates the reel grid is electrified, and so are the playing cards that represent low value symbols. They seem as neon lights and will pay between 0.80x to 1x for six of a kind.
Meanwhile, the premium symbols are peculiar devices that represented the future in 1893!The Inventions of Tesla, Edison, and other scientists will get you between 2.5x and 4x bet for the maximum combination. A primitive TV set is the highest-paying regular icon, offering up to 5x bet.
And finally, the Wild will not pay anything, but it does substitute for all regular symbols to create wins, whilst the Scatter triggers free spins round where the best payouts are possible.
Gameplay and Features
Cascading Reels Feature
Cascading wins is a very familiar mechanic these days, usually used in Megaways™ slots. Land matching symbols on at least three successive reels, beginning from the leftmost reel, and you will trigger cascading reels. All winning symbols will be zapped off the grid and new ones will enter to fill the blank positions and, hopefully, create successive winning combinations. This process continues until no more wins are possible.
Power Coil Feature
The seventh reel that runs horizontally above reels 2 to 4 is there to activate the Power Coil feature. Once again, it creates a similar set up to Megaways™ games, as importantly, wilds can only appear on the horizontal reel.
By landing successive winning cascades, you will also increase the Power Coil Multiplier, which appears above the corresponding reel. Each reel comes with multipliers up to 5x, and they can combine when more than one is active, which is how it is possible to create a win multiplier of 625x.
Free Spins Feature
Land three or more energy Scatters on the reels and you will trigger the Free Spins feature. Depending on the number of Scatters landed, you can trigger 10, 15, 20, or 25 free spins.
All Power Coil multipliers from the base game are transferred to the Free Spins feature, only here they do not reset after a non-winning cascade, so they keep increasing and combining to boost your chances of getting close to that 30,000x top payout.
And finally, for every additional Scatter landed during the bonus round you will get 2 extra free spins, so it’s possible to keep adding to your total.
You don’t need to have much more than a passing interest in Megaways™ slots to notice that Play n Go have taken a lot of their inspiration here from Big Time Gaming’s now ubiquitous expanding reels game engine. From the Cascading Wins, through to the horizontal spinning reel with wilds and the progressive multipliers that don’t re-set in the bonus round, the mechanics are close to identical (just without expanding reels!). But this is no bad thing, as most of us love Megaways™ and despite the similarities, Play n Go have at least brought their own twist to the tale here as their electric game has stunning visuals, an original theme and a compelling payout potential that will get the blood pumping for anyone who loves high variance slots action. So, buckle up and get ready for a scintillating ride!
