ALL ABOUT BONUS BUNNIES SLOT
We have really been getting behind the young slot studio called Nolimit City in 2020, giving excellent reviews to new games like Punk Rocker, Deadwood and Harlequin Carnival. They have been riding the crest of a wave of high variance releases and grabbing the attention of high-risk slots fans across the UK thanks to these excellent slots that mix superb themes and graphics with some unique features like the xNudge Wild. They are also proving to be pretty prolific in their output with new titles out each month, which is always good to see and will keep them high profile throughout the year. For their June 2020 Nolimit have dialed down the variance one of two notches and gone for something a little sparser and more laid back – Bonus Bunnies is a trip into the countryside that’s much less of a headspin that previous titles and might just broaden their fanbase as we head into a long summer.
GAME SET-UP, SYMBOLS AND GRAPHICS
The cartoon-ish farmland backdrop to this slot and the slightly dopey looking rabbit are reminiscent of a Disney cartoon and typical of the quality graphical output of Nolimit. The reel set is a very simple 4×4 with 30 fixed paylines active at all times throughout the game. Low value symbols are represented by the cards 10 through to Ace whilst the premiums consist of various veg-patch icons including cucumbers, onions, tomatoes and peas. The tomato itself is the highest value at 15x for four on a payline.
There is also a Wild symbol that subs in for all others, and also comes in at 15x for four on a line, and a Rabbit bonus scatter that is required to trigger the Carrot Link spins feature described below.
BONUS BUNNIES SLOT RTP, VARIANCE AND PAYOUTS
In keeping with the more light-hearted theme and title of this slot, Bonus Bunnies does not have the same high wire volatility of most other games in the NoLimit City catalogue. Instead this one is a medium variance game which as we say might appeal to a broader audience. It plays at a competitive 96.14% RTP and offers a top prize of 6,950x. These are decent stats and make the slot worth checking out whatever your tastes are.
GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES
Fans of UK game developer Push Gaming will notice some similarities between their infamous Fat Rabbit slot and Bonus Bunnies in the way that the rabbit leaps from reel to reel to chomp on the carrots, triggering win events as he goes. Here’s how it all works:
Rabbits and Wild Trails
The key event in the base game happens when the Rabbit Scatter and a Wild symbol land simultaneously on the reels. Here, the rabbit will head over to the nearest Wild and eat it. In doing so, he leaves behind a Wild in the position he came from AND turns the reel he lands on into a Wild reel. This neat trick hits fairly regular to drive up your wins and gets better when two scatters land and BOTH the reel and row with the Wild on turn fully Wild.
Carrot Link Spins
To set up the main event you’ll need to land 3 or more Rabbit Scatters on a single spin. The scatters now show a multiplier figure, and all other spaces on the 4×4 grid turn blank and a new set of symbols come into play as follows:
- Multiplier Carrots – no need to explain!
- Harvesters –reap the rewards from all the multiplier values currently on the grid.
- Fertilizers – Enhance the multiplier values of all carrots.
- Settlers – Expand the reels set by one row or one reel.
The round starts with 3 spins, and this number re-sets after each new symbol lands on the reels. This feature plays out until the entire grid is filled with symbols or you have used up all your spins. If it’s the former then a special key symbol will be last to land and will open a chest with an additional multiplier of up to 5x.
When all is done, the total multiplier is applied to your stake and you receive your payout.
It’s fair to say that this is a very different game from Nolimit City’s catalogue to date. It’s a very clear move to stretch their appeal to more casual slot players, both thematically and in the lower-variance game engine that gives a more slow-paced and regular stream of payouts. So, whether you are into it or not will depend on your preference – if you loved Deadwood and Tombstone then chances are this game is not going to be for you. But if you like your slots simple then Bonus Bunnies will be a fun little trip. It’s not feature-packed and its certainly not going to drive manic win sequences, but it has been well crafted, it looks great and it keeps you entertained .. for a while at least.
