GAME SET-UP, SYMBOLS AND GRAPHICS
Expendables New Mission plays out on the classic six reel Megaways™ game format with between two and seven rows per reel, making up to 117,649 win ways in play at any time. The graphics have a mechanical, metallic feel to them and the scene is set for some epic action. Look out for low value symbols which are cards 9 through to Ace, alongside premiums which are made up of our heroes – Terry Crews, Dolph Lungdren, Jason Stratham, and Sylvester Stallone. The latter has a blockbuster value at no less than 62.5x for six on a payline.
As ever you’ll need to land three or more identical symbols on adjacent reels (irrespective of position) from left to right to score a win. There are also two wilds in the mix which sub for all other symbols, and on occasion come with multipliers. And finally, there are Dog Tag scatters which are needed to trigger the free spins round.

This is a high, high variance game so don’t expect to see too many wins popping up frequently. GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES
The second Expendables slot is packed with features typical of Megaways™ slots but with enough twists and turns to elevate the game to a new level. Here are the base game features:
Golden Skulls– these are mystery symbols that all transform into the same one chosen randomly from the paytable when they land. This increases your odds of hitting a payout.
Multiplier Wilds – these are like standard wilds but they come with a multiplier of between 2x and 10x which is applied to your win when a wild is included in the payline. If more than one multiplier wild appears in a line then the multipliers are combined.
Mystery Symbols – these ones will transform into any other symbol in the paytable when they drop, including the multiplier wilds.
Sly Stallone Cameo – he’s on the reels as a premium symbol but he appears randomly to the side, flinging a grenade onto the reels and causing symbols to change in the same way as mystery ones do.
Free Spins
The all-important free spins round kicks in when 3 or more Dog Tag scatters land at once. You get 12 spins for 3 scatters, plus 5 more for every other scatter that lands. The bonus round comes with a 1x multiplier that increases randomly by between 1x and 5x on each spin. Sly appears and modifies symbols more frequently here too, and if you land more scatters you add more spins to your total. Four more will get you 10 extra spins.
After each win you will be offered the chance to gamble by choosing the suit or color of a card. This can double of quadruple your win if you guess correctly. Of you lose it all! There is also a Super Stake feature which allows you to increase your stake to add further Golden Skulls to the reels to increase your odds of winning.
OUR VERDICT
Amongst the overwhelming number of Megaways™ slots on release this year, the Expendables New Mission at least stands out from the crowd. It has a strong theme, nicely executed with slick graphics and a particularly interesting use of Sly Stone’s character to spice up the action with modifiers. What’s also notable here is the very high variance and the big potential. Hitting anything like 20,000x on a spin will be very unlikely but it raises expectations that payouts exceeding at least 5,000x are achievable. Go easy if you do take this one for a spin though, because it’s maths model is a tough one! Have fun, and gamble responsibly.
