ALL ABOUT POLTERHEIST SLOT
Collaborative slots are becoming more popular these days as big name studios team up with smaller set-ups to deliver new titles – Microgaming have released a few this year in partnership with Just for the Win and Triple Edge Studios.
And here we have NextGen working with Canadian outfit, Side City Studios on their Halloween 2018 project, Polterheist. Whilst these collaborations don’t always produce the best results, this one looks more promising thanks to a high variance, a possible 5,000x top payout, and unlimited free spins to play in the bonus round.
Polterheist also look and sounds pretty good, with a kind of amusing haunted Wild West theme featuring a group of ghostly bandits terrorizing the reels.
Initially the game will be available exclusively at Casumo Casino before general release in the following weeks.
Polterheist Game Set Up
The Polterheist slot is based in the  American West and features a haunted shack on which the reel set up sits. There are 5 reels and 4 rows in the game, with 100 fixed paylines to win on.
This is a volatile game, so beware! It comes with an RTP of 96.6%, which is relatively high, and a top payout of 5,000x per spin in the bonus round.
Players can spin the reels from 50p to £50 per spin.
Polterheist Game Symbols
The low value symbols in this slot are the cards, 10 through to Ace. There are also five ghost bandits – the Hauntin’ Gang – who make up the premium symbols. The highest paying is a guy called Goldie Goldrush (the Golden Sheriff) who pays out 20x for five in a row. A full screen of Sheriff’s, available with the Ghost Break-In feature, brings up a 1,000x payout in the base game!
Look out as well for the Wild – the Wanted poster – which substitutes for all others on reels except the scatter and appears only on reels 2, 3 and 4.
There is also, of course, a scatter symbol – the Golden Safe – that is required to trigger the free spins round.
Polterheist Features
During the base game there are two random features to look out for in Polterheist. They work as follows:
Haunted Wilds– Extra wilds are added to the middle three reels before any spin to increase your chances of hitting a winning payline.
Ghost Break-In – Here, one of the Hauntin’ Gang ghosts is picked and stacks of that symbol appear on the reels. Additionally, ALL other instances of ANY ghost morph into the chosen symbol. This can potentially open up some decent win opportunities, particularly if the chosen ghost is the high paying sheriff.
Polterheist Free Spins
Whilst there is win potential in the base game, the real opportunities come in the free spins round where there are unlimited plays on offer.
To trigger this round you will need to land the Golden Safe Scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously. This gets you 8 free spins to start.
And here are the reasons that the free spins round can pay out BIG …
Multipliers – these are added at the start of EVERY spin – that means a 2x to 5x multiplier applied to ALL your winning spins during the bonus round.
Extra Free Spins– Land 1, 2 or 3 Golden Safe Scatters during the free spins round and you’ll receive an additional 1, 5 or 8 free spins. This can happen an UNLIMITED number of times.
Haunted Wilds and Ghost Break-In Features– These two base game features are available in the bonus round as well and occur MORE FREQUENTLY. The better value Ghost Break-In can give you a full screen of Sheriffs on a 5x multiplier, giving you a top payout of 5,000x!
The Slot Buzz Verdict
We like the look of this game. When studios release Halloween-type games often the results appear rushed and the games lack longevity as a result. But in the case of Polterheist we can see ourselves investing in this one long after the trick or treaters have gone home!
The free spins round is where it’s at, and the Ghost Break-In feature is what you’re looking for with a high value symbol stacking up and a decent multiplier for your wins. The high variance means these events will be rare, but there is certainly win potential in Polterheist which makes it one to play this autumn.
