GAME SET-UP, SYMBOLS AND GRAPHICS
As usual the production on this Yggdrasil slot is high class. The action takes place in a soft-focus jungle scene, with a purple-dusky sky in the background and exotic flowers growing amongst the trees. The reel set is a 5×3 format with 243 paylines in play at all times. That means the game pays out left to right for three or more identical symbols on adjacent reels regardless of which row they sit on.
Low value symbols are represented by the cards 9 through to Ace. The premium symbols are represented by the animal icons, the frog, lizard, parrot and toucan. The parrot pays out the most at 4x for five on a payline. Look out as well for the important wild symbol that subs for all others bar the Chameleon scatter that is required to trigger the free spins round.
THE IMPORTANT STATS
This is a high variance game with a low frequency of wins that are compensated by big payouts when they come. Look at the symbol values and you’ll see they are small. That’s because this game is all about the multipliers that apply to each reel. They are in play all the time and combine to create big totals. So be ready for that. The RTP of the game is a reasonable 96.3% and the top payout is a mouthwatering 10,000x. It’s a tough slot to crack but there’s a lot of fun to be had trying to score those big multipliers along the way.
GAMEPLAY AND FEATURES
Dropdown / Cascading Wins
Multifly is a slot that uses the Dropdown or Cascading Wins mechanic. This game format is so common now it hardly needs explanation. But for the uninitiated here it is: after a winning spin, winning symbols are removed from the reels and replaced with new ones. If this creates more wins, so the process repeats. This will continue until there are no more wins. From one spin it’s possible therefore to drive multiple win sequences. In this instance, after each dropdown, a Wild is guaranteed to be added to the reels.
When the game first loads you will notice that above each reel is a chameleon, each presiding over its own multiplier, starting at 1x. Whenever a wild lands on any reel, so the multiplier value for that reel will increase by 1x. When a winline is formed, the multipliers come into play for each reel that features a winning symbol. Multipliers on more than one reel will combine to create a greater value. For example, a 2x and a 3x will create a total of 6x.
NOTE: in the base game after a win sequence ends or after a non-winning spin, so all the multipliers will re-set to 1x.
Into the free spins round and you’ll need three or more Chameleon Scatters to trigger this one. This gets you 10 spins. The important difference between this round and the base game is that the multipliers DO NOT re-set after a non-winning spin or at the end of a cascade. They just keep on rising. This is where your big wins will come, and they can stack up nicely as the multipliers build and combine and particularly where you have an extended dropdown sequence. That is high variance fun in a nutshell!
Multifly is one of those high-risk games that has been boiled down to a very simple mechanic. There is no big feature list to get your head around, it’s just about trying to get lucky building up those multipliers in one sequence in the base game, or scoring scatters to trigger the free spins round and getting a good run of multiplier combinations before the free plays run out. If you have a bad session the first time you load this game up then you’ll probably hate it forever more and never come back because it can be monotonous and it can drain your bankroll fast without much reward. However, there will be a lucky few who have a win bonanza, and when they do it will be a carnival of multipliers and a blockbuster win. Best of luck and we’ll see you on the other side.
