A medium variance, 40 payline steampunk slot built on a 5×5 reel set with stacks of Mystery Transforming Symbols, Win Boosters and Free Spins with 3 Mystery Reels that can turn completely wild!
Back in 2015 NetEnt brought us Steam Tower. Now, some years later Microgaming are releasing their own Steampunk game with Fortunium, a slot that’s had some hype around it since it was announced at London’s ICE convention in February.
For those who don’t know, Steam Punk is a type of Science Fiction novel or film set in historical times and where steam power is at the forefront rather than advanced technologies. It’s usually associated with Victorian England or Wild West America.
MG’s slot Fortunium is due for release on June 20th 2018. It features 2 characters, Maximillian and Victoria who are apparently trying to make a killing in the city of Fortunium.
The game appears to have been designed for mobile play, and in particular in portrait mode as the reels and rows are set up 5×5. It has some cool features, including a Win Booster which allows you to increase your stake to open up more chances of hitting bigger wins.
There are also Free Spins and plenty of Mystery Symbols and Mystery Reels.
Let’s find out more.
This is a simple feature in which any mystery symbol that lands on the reels will transform into another from the game. It could be a low symbol, a high one, or the wild.
This is an interesting addition to a MG slot. Win Booster allows you to increase your stake by 50%. When you do, should you land a Mystery Symbol on a spin then it can ONLY be a premium symbol or a wild.
Land 3, 4 or 5 scatter symbols anywhere on the reels and you will get 10 free spins. Here, you can also pick up MYSTERY REELS – you get 1 mystery reel if you landed 3 scatters, 2 mystery reels for 4 scatters, and 3 mystery reels for 5 scatters.
A Mystery Reel contains only Mystery Symbols that will transform when they land. Technically you can land three fully wild reels this way.
NOTE: When you land another scatter during the free spins round, an additional free spin is added to your cache.
This is not a bad looking slot from MG – the steampunk is visually exciting. The features are simple however and this game won’t appeal to those who like a full-on feature-packed slot. The mystery symbols in the base game can give you some nice wins, and the Win Booster feature is worth a try, but aim for the free spins round and wild reels if you really want a good pay off from Fortunium.
This is also a medium variance game. If you prefer something higher up the spectrum from MG then we recommend Diamond Empire.
