About Let It Snow Slot
The game is set against the backdrop of a snowy forest scene and mountains with simple illustrated graphics. It’s very much a winter slot with a nod to Christmas in the symbols, though nothing as in-yer-face as this year’s festive games like Rudolf Gone Wild or Big Bad Wolf Christmas Edition.
The model is the same as a previous popular Hacksaw release, Cash Compass. So, you get a standard 6×6 grid with cluster pays defining the payouts. However, there is no cascading wins feature here which is extremely unusual for grid slots and may put some punters off. There is though the interesting use of spreading symbols and a fun bonus wheel that comes with a massive 250x top multiplier which can push the top wins up well over the 5,000x mark.
Let It Snow came out in early December 2020 and play starts from C$0.20 per spin.
RTP, Variance and Top Payout
Make no mistake, this is a high volatile slot and often meaner than your average Christmas Scrooge. So expect an uneven payout distribution and potentially lots of dry spins before hitting that big winning run where the bonus wheel or free spins can really help you out. The top advertised payout is 7,500x though it is very unlikely anyone will get near that. More likely you’ll see some wins in the mid to high 100s x on occasion. The RTP is an average 96.42%, putting it in the mid-range of Hacksaw games.
Symbols and Paytable
There are 9 different symbols that appear on the grid to form clusters. The four low-value icons are candy canes, bells, decorations, and stockings – a very Christmas collection. Meanwhile, the premiums are represented by the Christmas trees, gingerbread men, snowmen, and Santa Claus himself.
You can pocket from 60x to 130x your stake from premium symbols when you create clusters of 15 or more matching icons.
There is also a special wreath which is an important spreading symbol. It has special powers when combined with the spinning wheel at the top of the grid which determines its directions of spread when it appears. It can create clusters of up to 30 and give you wins of 1,000x.
Lookout as well for the red gift which is the scatter that triggers the Free Spins feature, and the blue gift which triggers the Bonus game.
Gameplay and Features
There are three additional features on offer in Let it, Snow. Remember, Hacksaw has made the decision to omit the cascading wins from this grid slot, but the extras are still pretty fun. Here’s how they work:
SPREADING SYMBOL FEATURE
The huge compass on top of the reel set is required to trigger the Spreading Symbol feature. It is triggered randomly and will add 5 spreading wreath icons onto the reels. First, you get the wins from the spin, and after that, the compass needle will spin, land, and point in one direction. This makes the wreaths expand across the grid in the direction pointed by the needle. When this is complete, a new payout is calculated.
FREE SPINS FEATURE
Land three special red gift icons on the reels and you will trigger the Free Spins feature. That gets you 10 free spins. During your bonus round, it will be possible again to trigger the spreading symbol feature as well.
BONUS GAME FEATURE
The blue gift scatter is required to trigger the Bonus game. Three of them are needed on the reels in order for the feature to start. Now, the bonus wheel appears, with 8 different sections. You can get a maximum of 50 spins of the wheel, collecting multipliers from the sections and moving between levels. The top multiplier is a whopping 250x and the feature ends when all 50 spins are completed, or when the wheel stops on the skull segment.
Amidst a big release schedule of Christmas-themed slots, Hacksaw has delivered a slick little number that might just go under the radar but in fact, is not to be missed. Whilst some grid slot fans will no doubt be moaning about the lack of win cascades, those with the patience to get to know Let It Snow will enjoy a fun and exciting slot with more than its fair share of tension and big win opportunities. The spreading wreaths are critical to landing any decent wins in the base game but in truth, the top payouts will only ever come in the bonus wheel feature where those huge multipliers are built to deliver one-off big prizes. It’s all very simple high variance gameplay, but we loved it and highly recommend giving it a spin over this Xmas period.
