About War of Gods Slot
The story of Zeus and Hades is a tale of two brothers and Gods. In Ancient Greek mythology Zeus is the head of the Gods, on his thrown on Mount Olympus, whilst Hades reigns in the underworld. Hades is jealous of his brother’s status and wants to overthrow him. It is this rivalry that War of Gods depicts, taking us to the very gates of Zeus’ palace, where Hades is about to kick off once again!
Both of our Gods need allies in order to win and both will reward the players of this slot for their
loyalty. In the background you will see the magnificent palace held by two titans and underneath that, dangerous hellfire. The premise of the game is to utilize symbol upgrades and expanding reels to push bigger wins.
There are many Ancient Greek-themed slots, not least Playtech’s Age of Gods series, so Red Tiger are up against some pretty tasty opposition here, but War of Gods holds its own as we will find out
RTP, Variance and Top Payout
This is a medium variance slot game so the wins are fairly evenly distributed and there is enough in the way of features to keep things interesting throughout. Whilst the base game begins with 30 paylines, it upgrades to 60 when the reels expand. The RTP is slightly under average at 95.66% and the top prize is a modest 2,518x bet in a single spin – not bad, but well short of some of the monster payouts potentially available in new high variance slots like San Quentin xWays.
Symbols and Paytable
In War of Gods, as standard the low value symbols are represented by the card suits, spades, clubs, diamonds and hearts. Higher value icons are a warrior helmet, spear and shield, horn with a skull on it, and a scroll with some writing on it. The top paying icons are the two deities who both act as scatters and trigger the three extra features as well as paying 10x bet for the max combination. There are no Wilds in this game.
Gameplay and Features
Although there are no free spins on the offer in War of Gods there is still plenty to keep you engaged and lots of regular features dropping in to enhance the basic gameplay. Here is how they work:
Wrath of Zeus Feature
Get two Zeus symbols on reels 1 and 5 at the same time, and you will trigger the Wrath of Zeus feature. Here, Zeus icons will expand and fill both reels AND … during the re-spins feature, only Shield and Zeus icons will appear on the reels.
As long as you land new Zeus symbols, you will keep getting more re-spins.
If you land shields on the reels, you will boost the value of Zeus symbols as well, which is signified by a change of color. Up to three of these upgrades can occur at once, but once no new Zeus symbols appear on the reels, the feature is over.
Hades Hellfire Feature
Hades Hellfire feature is triggered in the same manner as Wrath of Zeus.
Get two Hades icons on reels 1 and 5 at the same time and you they will lock and expand to cover all the spaces on those reels. And once again, only shields and Hades icons will appear on the remaining reels.
By landing special shields in this round you are also able to upgrade the number of active paylines available by expanding the reels to a 7×6 grid. This creates up to 60 paylines.
The feature ends when no more Hades or shield symbols land on the reels.
Warring Gods Feature
This final feature is a combination of the previous two and is triggered when you land Zeus and Hades at the same time on reels 1 and 5. Once again, the two gods lock and expand when they land. And the number of paylines can also increase to 60 with a 7×6 gird. Its possible to create lines of 7 Zeus of Hades for a 100x payout.
Red Tiger have nailed it with the visuals and sounds here to create a stunning and epic atmosphere in War of Gods. There is a sense of tension between the two deities that makes this into a really engaging game. The gameplay itself is good, though not as action-packed as some other titles on the market right now. Basically, it’s all about locked and expanded Zeus and Hades symbols that trigger everything else – expanding reels, further locked symbols and re-spins. The medium variance means that you won’t wait too long for payouts though and despite the lower-than-average top potential, this game will have a broad appeal and make for an interesting new game to try in 2021.
